The unit Transformations and Functions turned out to be one of the toughest units I’ve worked through in the 32 past weeks. It took me the entire week to finish so I unfortunately didn’t start a second unit. Each section of the unit was fairly difficult, however there was one section in particular that I… Read More Week 32 – 15 Hours and One Tough Unit

This week I only got through the unit Logarithms which was disappointing. I had a somewhat troubling issue come up at work which was fairly distracting and was a major factor why I didn’t get as much done as I would have liked. I also took my dog out every morning for a walk which… Read More Week 31 – The Beginning of the End of the Beginning

This week I completed 3 units! I mentioned before that, for me to get into the KA calculus courses by the start of the New Year, I’ll need to start finishing between 2 to 2.5 units per week so I’m glad to have got through 3 in Week 30. The units I got through were… Read More Week 30 – Three Units in One Week: Finding Focus in Lockdown

I’m happy to report that this week 1) the world didn’t end and, 2) I managed to get through the two units Polynomial Factorization and Polynomial Division. Considering how distracted I’ve been with everything that’s going on, I’m happy with the progress I made, though part of me does feel like I should have been… Read More Week 29 – The World Didn’t End, and Neither Did My Math Progress

In terms of getting through videos, exercises and units, this week was a huge fail. The goal this week was to get through two units, Polynomial Factorization and Polynomial Division, and I didn’t even get through the first unit. In my defense, however, a pandemic broke out that might end civilization as we know it.… Read More Week 28 – The Week the World Changed

In the first week of the second half of my first year (pretty sure that’s right), Week 27, I got through the first two units of the course Algebra 2, Polynomial Arithmetic and Complex Numbers. To start this course, I was happy that I was getting back into Algebra and, also, that it seemed likely… Read More Week 27 – Imaginary Numbers, Real Progress

I did it! This past week, Week 26, my half-year mark, I hit my goal of finishing the unit Circles and the entire course High School Geometry. Up to this point, I’m happy with my progress and my overall commitment and self-dedication but, looking ahead, to hit my 2020 goal of at least getting into… Read More Week 26 – Halfway Through Year One: Geometry Complete!

Ok, I think it’s going to happen. This week I got through just over half the unit Circles which was further than my goal for this week (Woo!). I’m on track to get through the unit and finish the course High School Geometry by the end of next week, Week 26. Although I actually surpassed… Read More Week 25 – Going Around in Circles

Did I make a “solid dent” in the unit Circles this week as I said I wanted to at the end of my last post? No. Am I happy with the effort I put in this week? For the most part, ya. It took me much longer than I expected to get through Analytic Geometry… Read More Week 24 – 21.5 Pages Later: The Importance of Slowing Down

Week 23 started out with the unit Solid Geometry and finished with me getting about a third of the way through the following unit Analytic Geometry. At the start of the week, the goal was to get through both units. I got called into work Thursday and Friday mornings which made tough to get through… Read More Week 23 – Thinking in Three Dimensions
